Pizza, pasta, brie with baked apples on the menu at this Lafayette restaurant

Craving classic Italian cuisine? La Pizzeria, located in the heart of Lafayette, has been serving fresh baked pizzas, savory pastas and more for 25 years. . This staple of local culture recently embarked on a new chapter with a decorated interior, menu updates and new owners promising to deliver great quality and memories for years to come.

Randy Daniel, the new owner of La Pizzeria, has been managing and owning restaurants since the 1990s. Daniel, originally from Baton Rouge, moved to Lafayette with his family in 2015. His wife grew up in Lafayette and he has always loved the culture of the region. At the end of 2019, the Daniels took possession of La Pizzeria.

“This place has been open for almost 25 years. I’ve been here for about two and a half years,” he explains. “We renovated, then we reopened and two weeks later things came to a halt with COVID. So that created some tough times. We of course focused on takeout and family meals.”

Throughout the period of uncertainty brought by COVID, La Pizzeria has used the time to make improvements at all levels. Daniel really wanted to improve the quality of the ingredients used in the restaurant. Bringing in fresh, often locally sourced ingredients, protein and organic produce to use was an important step in the makeover process.

“It’s food I can be proud of,” he explains. “It’s food that you can eat as a family and know that everyone will find something they like. We have updated and modernized the menu a lot. But we have tried to keep the essentials of what has made La Pizzeria what it has been for 25 years. You will still find many of those menu items you had as a kid when you arrived, just updated.”
