Lucknow: Be it Awadhi cuisine, scratch ki sabji from Rajasthan, special Haryanvi tadka dal or delicacies from Bihar, researchers at Golden Jubilee hostel at Lucknow University are working to serve a “Mini India” menu to the National Assessment Accreditation Council (NAAC) visiting the campus for a reassessment from July 11 to July 13.
The female students volunteered to cook for the team with the idea of showcasing unity in diversity on campus and promoting the concept of the “LU family” in which students, teachers and non-teaching staff come together at major events.
“A few students have asked me to prepare a meal for NAAC members who are going to campus for reassessment. The students were excited and had planned her weeks before. I will take permission from the NAAC team members and if all goes well, on the second day of the visit, students will be able to serve the menu they have planned,” said LU Vice Chancellor Professor AK Rai.
“The best thing about our hostel is that we have students from different parts of the country like Haryana, Rajasthan and Bihar. That’s why we have planned to serve ‘taste of India’ to the members of the NAAC team,” said the doctoral student Sakshi Singh. She said that everyone at the university contributes in one way or another to the preparations for the NAAC. “Since we also wanted to do something, we decided to serve the team some “homemade” meals that we will prepare in the hostel itself.”
“LU has a small organic farm and we will use vegetables and herbs available on campus,” said Dean of Student Welfare, Professor Poonam Tandon. She said a team of hostel provosts and nine university researchers Nikita Singh, Nimsiha Singh, Anjali Mishra, Shikha Rawat, Nishi SoniNikita Katiyar, Akansha Mishra and Anjana Tiwari and Sakshi Singh will host the dinner for the NAAC team, she added.
