Ashford Castle launches Meet the makers series

ASHFORD Castle has launched the first in a series of annual Wine Lover Experiences that combine wine tasting and great food with a rare opportunity to meet leading winemakers from the world’s best wine regions.

Meet the Makers will provide guests with access to exclusive knowledge and expertise as well as some of the best wines from the winemakers’ respective regions.

The first experience, at the price of 950 € per person, will welcome four great wine growers from France and will take place over two days from February 4 to 6, 2022, and it is advisable to book early.

The two-night getaway begins with a private welcome reception and dinner with the winemakers at Cullen’s at the Cottage, on the grounds of beautiful Ashford Estate.

After a leisurely breakfast on the second day, guests are invited to Ashford Castle’s private cinema to learn about the growing trend of vineyard-specific biodynamic and organic wines from the winemakers and their experience in this direction. The winemakers are from: Domaine Albert Mann, Alsace; Domaine Vincent Girardin, Burgundy; Château Pédesclaux – Pauillac, Bordeaux; and Domaine Bott, Rhône Valley.

A light lunch will follow where renowned experts will offer first-hand insight into the effects of climate change on their vineyards in France.

Guests will then whet their appetites with ample time to explore all that the Ashford Estate has to offer and return to drinks and canapes in the 16th century castle wine cellars, followed by a six-course dinner in the historic Connaught Hall. With a touch of the season, the menu was designed by Ashford Castle Executive Chef, an advocate for local and seasonal produce, Philippe Farineau.

Meet the Makers is a wonderful luxury Christmas gift idea and event wine lovers and explorers can look forward to year after year.

Ashford Castle’s wine cellars were originally used as a servants’ entrance, a coal bunker and an underground walkway and have since been lovingly transformed. They now offer intimate private spaces where guests can enjoy wine tasting from the chateau’s long list of over 600 wines as well as special dining experiences.
